OCP Contractors considers a safe workplace fundamental to our success and a key component of our strategic planning. Recently our dedication to providing a safe workplace was acknowledged by the AWCI and the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. This year OCP was privileged to receive AWCI’s “Excellence in Construction Safety Award”, as well as, the “Governor’s Excellence Award”. In addition, OCP recently became an associate partner with OSHA in their P.A.S.S. program. OCP is honored and grateful to have received all three of the above designations.
We believe the above accomplishments result from our commitment to safety awareness and our investment in a strong safety program. Matt Taylor became the full-time Safety Director/Risk Manager in 1999. In December 2001, Matt was certified as a Construction Health and Safety Technician and has served as the chairman of the Construction Contractors Council for the past two years. Through Matt’s assistance, and the dedication of OCP’s workforce, our safety program has progressed to the point that it has become a model for the construction industry. Statistically, OCP’s EMR rating dropped from .61 in 1999 to .59 in 2000 and 2001 to .55 in 2002. By utilizing our past experiences and Matt’s direction, OCP plans to continually improve our safety processes to insure each future job is not only successful, but also safe.
